The anachronistic dressed man shouted towards them. "GET DOWN!"
They did so. The resultant explosion just over a second later washed over, singing their backs. It was an explosion like none of them had known, even in their times back on Earth.
When they finally got back up, they observed the metallic creature had been destroyed, something oozing from within, the strange man was examining the casing.
"Who art thou, stranger?", Dupre asked.
"Oh, you can drop the medievalism. I know you come from the 20th Century originally, the human you call the Avatar told me that. I'm the Doctor."
